The Sony PS Vita is great little portable gaming system but sadly Sony doesn’t give you a case, screen protector or anything else with it to protect your investment. The Vita isn’t cheap as you will know if you bought one, and for that price they should have included a case and screen protector. Personally I think any and every portable gadget should come with a screen protector and case as a stand accessory. That aside though, today for review I’ve got something that will not only protect your Vita but will add a bit of personality to it as well. The product is a skin from DecalGirl, this skin comes in many parts and it’s not exactly what I would call easy to apply, but in the end I think it’s well worth it. Read on to learn more about it…

The Review::
The skins come in a clear plastic envelope with and advertisement on the back.
Inside you’ll find the skins and installation instructions.
The skins are two parts, one for the front and one for the back. The skin for the front has a section in the center with a web address and special code on it so you can download the matching wallpaper for the skin.
The bottom skin is the back of the Vita, if you closely at both skins you’ll find many pieces, especially the bottom section.
Here’s my Vita and the skins:
I started applying the back section first, it was fairly easy as they were large pieces.
I then moved to the smaller pieces on the sides which took quite a bit longer to apply ad they have to be lined up just right to match everything. Overall I like the looks of it myself. I’ve always liked dragons, so this works for me.
The front section was harder to apply I think as you had to go around the controls.
Getting the pieces around the buttons and joysticks was kind of hard honestly, it took a few tries really.
There was a lot of pieces to remove like the holes for the speakers.
Needless to say, but I will anyway, applying this skin took a lot of time and patience to get it right.
To get the matching wallpaper you just go to the website and enter your email address and input the code, the wallpaper will then be emailed to you
Here it is here. Yes the wallpaper is cut off but it’s supposed to be as it matches the skin, the picture continues onto the skin at the top, bottom and sides.
Here’s a couple shots of the skin and wallpaper in place:
I think it matches up quite nicely. It looks very good.
Conclusion:
If you’re looking for a non-bulky way to add protection and a bit of style to your Vita then a skin like this is the way to go.
The skin isn’t going to fully protect the Vita, but you shouldn’t expect it to as that’s not what it’s made for. It is made to provide some protection from scrapes or scratches and I think it will protect the Vita well.
This particular skin came with a lot of pieces which meant it took me quite some time to apply them all and get them all correctly in place. You’ll really need patience when it comes to getting this skin applied to your Vita, especially if you want it to look just right.
There are several choices when it comes to skins, so you can find one that fits your personal style.
I really like the fact that they include a free matching wallpaper, it does create a nice look.
