PS Vita Silicone Case Review

I’m back with another review for you of a silicone case for your Playstation Vita that should protect it from most minor bumps and scuffs. The case is silicone as mentioned and it covers the sides and back of the Vita while allowing full access to all of the buttons and ports. The price is about $12 so it’s not exactly expensive, but is it even worth that? Read on…

The PS Vita Gel is designed to be a slim line protective layer for your Vita to protect against scratches and knocks while you play.

Acting as a second skin, the PS Vita Gel Case is custom made to fit the console perfectly. Protecting both the front and reverse faces of the console, as well as the edges which are usually susceptible damage from knocks and drops.
Additionally, the gel case features specialized cut outs to allow access to all the buttons and features of the console without interference.

The Review::

There isn’t much to the packaging, just a plastic bag.

vit1

The case is plain black, well it’s actually more of a textured style to the outer surface.

vit2

 vit3

The case has slots openings for all of the buttons and ports and of course the camera.

vit4

 vit5

Ok so now we’ve got my Vita next to the case:

vit6

The case is silicone but it doesn’t have much give to it like other silicone style cases do as it’s much thicker than common silicone cases are. To get it on my Vita it did take a bit of extra work stretching and getting it to fit correctly.

vit7

The case only covers the back and sides of the Vita, it wraps around and sort of hooks onto the front.

vit8

 vit9

As I said the case is open to allow access to ports and buttons and the camera.

vit10

 vit11

Here’s the back view, it’s fully cut open to leave the back touch pad open for use.

vit15

I did run across some slight manufacturing defects that you may have noticed in the above pictures. The ones around the camera and back touch pad aren’t really an issue but the one on the front is I think.

vit16

The front section of the case just won’t sit flat against the Vita and aesthetically it just doesn’t look good at all sticking up like that.

Conclusion:

The PS Vita Silicone case isn’t a bad product especially if you consider the price of it. I guess you can’t expect something to be perfect and inexpensive as well right?

The case should offer decent everyday protection for the sides and back of the Vita from minor bumps and scrapes.

There are a few manufacturing flaws that might bother some people.

I have the official PlayStation Vita Leather case my Vita won’t fit in it with the silicone case on.

PROS CONS
+Thick silicone for protection of the Vita
+Should protect Vita from normal daily use
+Seems to be well made overall
+Can’t use with the official PS Vita leather case
-Flaws in the manufacturing process
-Doesn’t fit perfectly

8-10-award
