It’s finally here!!

Other Ocean Interactive, the acclaimed independent developer with a mastery of creating modern games with a retro feel like Dark Void Zero and the XBLA conversion of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, announced today that its highly anticipated side-scrolling platformer, The War of the Worlds, launches today for Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.  The War of the Worldsoffers an awe-inspiring take one of the most well-known science fiction stories of all time.

“We set out to make a classic cinematic platforming adventure game like the ones we all grew up playing and loving,” said Mike Mika, head of development with Other Ocean Interactive. “Couple the game’s nostalgic feel with one of the greatest stories ever told and The War of the Worlds is a game we’re proud to have developed.  We can’t wait for gamers and fans of one of gaming’s golden eras to get their hands on this game.”

Developed in conjunction with Paramount Digital Entertainment, The War of the Worlds is a dark and breathtaking new vision inspired by the classic H.G. Wells novel, retold as a single player, 2D action-adventure and narrated by the acclaimed and distinguished actor Sir Patrick Stewart. Set in London, the gameplay narrative parallels the timeline and events from the 1953 movie adaptation, but introduces a new story arc, characters, locations, and sub-plots. With gameplay paying homage to classic cinematic platformers such as Flashback, Out of This World and Prince of Persia, the game follows the exploits of an unknown everyman struggling to escape the Martian invasion of London and rescue his family. Forced to think through insurmountable odds, players will outsmart an army of alien tripods, spiders and drones as they make their way through a landscape of total devastation.

The War of the Worlds is now available to download at on XBLA and at the Xbox Live Marketplace for $10.00 (800 Microsoft Points). For more information about The War of the Worlds, please visit or or visit the game’s official Xbox page at
