Cimo Gloss Back Case Flexible TPU Cover for HTC One Review

It’s always exciting to get a new phone, at least I think it is and I got a new one last week, the HTC One. I always have to have a case and screen protector on my phone so I ordered an inexpensive case from Amazon a week before the phone was supposed to arrive. It’s just a basic case, like a silicone style, but it’s thicker, it’s a TPU case. For basic protection it’s not bad, but personally I would spend some extra money and get a better case. Product Name: Cimo Gloss Back Case Flexible TPU Cover for HTC One (M7) – Frosted Clear

Author: Kristofer Brozio

Price: $6.98 (from Amazon at time of review)

Complete with a cut-out design for the touch screen, this case allows you to keep the same tactile feel as using the HTC One (M7) without a case. Perfect for users who desire durable protection with a clean, modern design. If your in the market for a new case for your phone we highly recommend trying a new TPU case. The case is a plastic and silicone material hybrid. It’s shock absorbent, doesn’t dent nor will it tear or scratch. Retains the grip, soft feel and flexibility of a silicone case with the protection of a hard case. Installing the case couldn’t be any simpler. Just place the phone into one end of the case then pull/stretch the other end over the opposite end of your phone. Your phone remains fully functional while in the case with access to all the phones futures. Case is bendable, flexible and always retains its original shape. The Review::

The case just comes in a plastic bag, nothing special but it doesn’t need to be.

The case comes with a cardboard insert that looks like the phone. It’s odd really, but it helps hold the case in shape.

cimocase3

The case is made from TPU or thermoplastic polyurethane making it thin and flexible and resilient.

cimocase4

The case is glossy on the back like the name suggests. It’s glossy but it’s not slippery, it does offer some grip.

cimocase5

The case has holes in all the right places for the ports and cameras etc.

cimocase6 cimocase7

Getting the HTC One in the case is fairly easy, the case stretches and you just pull the case over the phone.

cimocase8

The back has a large opening for the camera and flash and a small hole for the secondary microphone.

The side cut-out for the volume buttons is located where it should be but it’s a little off.

cimocase11

In fact all of the cut-outs are not cut quite right, they just seem to be placed wrong.

The case does come up over the front of the phone slightly to help protect it, you can set the phone down and the screen won’t touch the surface you put it on.

Conclusion:

For about $7 you get some basic protection for your HTC One. It’s not a horrible case, but it’s not a good one either. Yes it will protect your phone, and the material should offer some protection for your phone, but it’s just cut wrong.

Can I recommend getting this case, no, simply for the fact that the misaligned holes are annoyingly wrong. Plugging things in is a hassle. I didn’t try it but it looks surely like the case will block the IR transmitter for the remote control.

Aesthetically the case looks nice, and it’s inexpensive, so at least it’s got that going for it. It does wrap around to the front of the phone to protect the screen edges, which is nice in itself. The case is thin so it doesn’t add any bulk and it’s semi-transparent so you can still see the phone.

If you need a cheap case, then I guess it’s not bad but the misaligned holes annoy me.

PROS CONS
+Inexpensive
+Offers thin protection
+Good grip
+Wraps around the screen edges
-Doesn’t really line up with ports etc
