Club Nintendo 3DS Pouch: Luigi Edition Review

So this isn’t an official review, but I thought it was well worth taking a look at. Over at Club Nintendo you can spend your points on things and a lot of the stuff is just decoration, but the Luigi Edition 3DS Pouch caught my attention and I spent some of my hard earned points on it. I figured why not make a little review out of it. Sadly, as of now, this product is no longer on the Club Nintendo site as one of the rewards your can get, but hopefully they’ll bring it back. So read on…

The Review::

The pouch just comes in a plastic bag, nothing special.

The pouch is green and shaped like Luigi’s hat with the big ‘L’ on it. The pouch is made of nylon and feels quality made. The material is a bit elastic and there’s a zipper on the ‘brim’ of the hat.

There’s nothing on the back it’s just plain.

luigi4

The zipper has the name Luigi on the pull tag, just in case you didn’t know I guess.

luigi5

Only the brim of the hat opens for access to the pouch.

luigi8

When you open it you’ll notice a little piece of extra material hanging around there, that’s a pocket so you can take a extra 3DS or DS game with you.

Here’s my 3DS with the pouch for scale:

luigi9

The pouch doesn’t exactly open up very wide.

luigi6

You essentially have to angle the 3DS to get it in there.

luigi11

Once it’s in you really can’t tell except for the slight bulge.

luigi10

The pouch doesn’t have much room for anything else in it.

luigi12

Now I have a clear case that attaches to my 3DS and I have the PowerSkin external battery that attaches to the 3DS and I couldn’t use either one with the Luigi pouch. Not  that big of a deal I guess, but the pouch doesn’t allow you to take much of anything else with you. It is nice to have the extra battery with me while I’m out, but I guess I can live without it if I’m not going to be gone long.
Conclusion:

The Luigi Edition Nintendo 3DS Pouch is a great little product. What says Nintendo more than one of the Mario Brothers better than a Luigi hat shaped case?

The pouch is durable and slightly padded so it should offer decent protection for your 3DS.

The bad thing is that the pouch is a tight fit and you won’t be able to use it if you have a case on your 3DS. I ‘m not sure how much that matters as the pouch will protect your 3DS.

Personally I’d rather have my case on and in the pouch, but I’ve yet to find a carrying case that I can use with a cover on my 3DS.
